Dr. Opie is a serial entrepreneur having co-founded three CLIA/CAP accredited, high-complexity laboratories and a GCP stem cell manufacturing laboratory.  As the CSO of Vantari Genetics, he was responsible all aspects of laboratory design, assay development & validation, and regulatory compliance for qPCR and LC/MS-based tests.  As the CEO of UniversalDX, he is responsible for managing business operations that generates $30MM in annual revenue.

Shaun became involved in the cannabis industry in 2017 after proposing and securing a contract research project to develop and validate an ISO 17025 compliant, high throughput, inexpensive molecular assay to meet microbial safety requirements legislated by State of CA in the Medicinal and Adult-Use Cannabis Regulation and Safety Act.  

Shaun sits on two advisory boards for privately held diagnostic companies and has the necessary credentials to act as a laboratory director for cannabis safety testing facilities.

Shaun is a graduate of the University of Florida with a PhD in Biomedical Sciences.
