2018 Farm Bill Allows "Broad" Hemp Cultivation

Farm Bill Revisited

This week marked a pivotal turning point in the global cannabis crusade.  During the week of December 10, the US Congress met and agreed to a final version of the 2018 Farm Bill.  In addition to providing agricultural and nutrition policy for the next 5 years, the 2018 Farm Bill provides updated guidance regarding HEMP.

Rather than allowing restricted pilot programs, the 2018 bill allows for broad hemp cultivation, and explicitly allows for transfer of hemp-derived products across state lines for commercial or other purposes.

The 2018 Farm Bill allows for broad hemp cultivation AND transfer of hemp-derived products across state lines!

Although still just a bill, President Trump is expected to sign the bill in the next few days.

Many in the advocacy community feel that reforms to hemp policy under the 2018 Farm Bill will serve as a catalyst toward broader cannabis reform.
